But why not go straight into an Employee Survey?

We are the last people to turn away survey customers!

If you have the experience to know a survey is appropriate, then fine... but here are five reasons to consider a "flip chart review" first.

Free Zone "Mind reading session".
This session with your MD or other key players may elicit lots of the same information a survey would produce. All be it without the same credibility or proof of a full Employee Survey.

Hearts and Minds It might make sense to win over the Top Team's hearts and minds first: hence this session.
So identifying problems this way doesn't negate the need for a survey, if you still want to go ahead with one after the "flip chart review".

Uncover disagreements early on Uncover the issues and any doubters in the Top Team can be sounded out upfront avoiding the: "I told you so..." scenario later on.
This avoids cost and damage to the organisation.

Formulate the questions Save a lot of administrative time with the sign-off process by contributing to the formulation of survey questions in the session.

Focus Group of Employees
A variation is to opt for a Focus Group but the principle is the same, good project management: what is our objective with this survey?
